Jax in a Box

So Biff made Hannah a pretty cool house out of a big box. Well, I made Jax a pretty freaking cool house myself and he loves it. It also has features just like Hannah's:

It has a door for entering and exiting....

Which can also be used in as a place to keep watch for intruders (Hannah)...

An airy rooftop used for lounging and sleeping....
And can Hannah touch her tounge to her nose while in/on her house? Didn't think so...makes the escape hatch not so cool now doesn't it?Just kidding, I think Hannah's house rocks!! Jax was just jealous...and really did need a place to hide from Hannah and we happened to have a big box :)

Fan Fest

I love this time of year because it means football season is near! And I absolutely love football season, especially the Utes!! So, last weekened it was fan fest and I wasn't going to miss it. Brig, Sheila, Kenz, Biff, John, Hannah, G-Claud and Lance all went too. Hannah loved Swoop. She wanted to give him knuckles. That is her new thing and it's freaking adorable! It was a beautiful day although it was a little hot. But it was all worth it because Kenz won a t-shirt and I won an Adidas windbreaker. Yeah, Fan Fest rocks!!

Nascar, baby!

Carl Edward...'s car came to my office!! A couple of weeks ago my receptionist sent an email saying that Carl Edward's NASCAR car would be visiting. Wa-freakin-hoo. So I didn't think it was that cool, but I knew Stacy would be all about it. And, I thought looking at the car would be pretty fun. So I forwarded the email to her and she was excited. We both forgot our cameras on the actual day, but she was able to get Megan's and the people there were taking pictures which they emailed to us.

Me, being the huge NASCAR fan that I am, had no idea that the cars did not have doors. Whose bright idea was that?! Okay, I'm sure it serves some very important purpose and I don't think to watch girls climb in with skirts and heels on is it...although re-thinking that, maybe I am wrong. Anyway, I was clearly not in my "NASCAR apparel" because I was wearing a skirt and could not climb in the window to sit in the car. They did keep telling me I could though, hmmmmm. So, I opted for the picture sitting in the window. They also kept telling me how cool my shoes looked against the car. Again...not NASCAR apparel and seen at the races apparently. Who knew that Steve Madden made his shoes to complement NASCAR colors? Way to go Steve, I think I will buy another pair in honor of your genius. (As if I didn't think Steve Madden was a complete genius anyway!!) Okay, now I think I am off on a shoe tangent, but I do find them much more interesting than NASCAR and this was a particularly cute pair :)


I was amazed at how much Stacy knew about NASCAR. She claims it is just Donnie that likes it, but I think she is a closet NASCAR fan ;) She kept saying something about doing a back flip and got this picture of her pretending she was about to do one. It wasn't until today when I actually read the spec sheet they gave us that says his signature move is a back flip when he wins a race. I think the people there were impressed with her knowledge!

They told me my legs were covering up the #60 so I needed to put them up. The more I think about this now, the more I wonder what their real intent was!!

Thanks Stace for coming and going to the NASCAR event with me! It was way more fun than going to the gym :P

Love and Sympathy

I am filled with extreme sadness this morning as I heard of the passing of a co-worker's daughter. She was only 18 years old and way too young to be taken from her parents. They went to the hospital on Wednesday night as she was not feeling well. Within hours she was in a coma she would never come out of. They found a massive brain tumor and she was given 24 hours to live. She passed away this morning. She was the only child to her parents and I cannot express the love and incredible relationship between mother and daughter. It has been extremely hard to hear this news and my heart goes out to her and her family at this time.

I know most of us have had to deal with cancer in one way or another. It is an awful thing and at this time I am reminiscent of our loved ones who have battled and especially those who have lost those battles. They are greatly missed, extremely loved and never forgotten.

I am also so thankful at this time for my own family and how much each and every one of them mean to me. It is at times like this when I realize we cannot take anything, or anyone for granted. Each day with those we love is a gift. And that is something we should never forget.

Mesquite!

Last week Stacy said that they were going to Mesquite for the weekend and invited a bunch of us to go down as well. We had just been there not 3 weeks before, but thought it would be really nice to just sit by the pool and relax which we didn't get to do last time. And, it was buy one night, get one free! Who can resist such a deal?!

So, we booked and headed down on Friday afternoon. We stopped in St. George for some dinner and then I made Lance find the only Golden Spoon left in Utah (I think). It was well worth the short drive! We then headed straight to Mesquite. After a quick stop at Lee's and Walmart, we were set!

The next day we went to the Eureka for breakfast and a little Monopoly. I love that game, I had to play just a little! We ended up winning about $40, then decided it was time to go to the pool. Tiffany (our gym buddy) and her boyfriend Derrick were already there saving us chairs. It was really too hot to be out of the pool though. We went down the slide, made some drinks and just sat in the water. Lance and I got noodles from Walmart the night before so we just floated and relaxed.

Rick and Stacy were moving Megan (Rick's daughter) into her dorm room at Dixie in the morning, but they got to the pool at about noon. Shortly after Brian, Amy and Alec from Las Vegas were there. We were in the pool and on the slide all day long! It started to get a bit cloudy around 4:30 and we were complete prunes so we decided it was time to go get ready for dinner.

I got in the shower and Lance laid down for a quick nap. I tired to wake him up about 15 minutes before we needed to leave, but he was having none of it! The huge burst of thunder about 30 seconds later did the trick for me though. It was so loud and seriously shook the room! He was right up and I was outside looking at the lightening. Not long after it started pouring rain. We could see sheets of rain and huge puddles were forming everywhere. It ended up being a pretty good storm with a few streets being completely flooded.

We left once it let up a bit and met everyone for dinner at a little Mexican restaurant. The food was okay, but the drinks were no good! We went back to the Casino after and everyone played some black jack. Then Lance and Brian went to the Craps table. Lance wanted to learn how to play and Brian was a good teacher. They both ended up winning quite a bit. Brian did warn Lance that this was not typically how Craps goes!

After the gambling we went to play pool, but there were people already there who were not moving any time soon. So, we went bowling!! Yes, I love bowling! That was the only place I remembered to get my camera out too. Stacy had a bit of trouble with the extremely slick floors past the foul line and fell a couple of times which I wish I would have gotten on camera! We had a really good time and shut the place down. It was a long, but very fun day.






The next morning we went to breakfast with everyone, then packed up and headed home. It was kind of a long drive home, but it was nice to spend the time with Lance. Overall, it was a really fun weekend!

Kenzie's home!!

YAY! Kenzie got back from Summer Camp today. It was so good to see her! Brig and Sheila and Sarah and John went to New York to pick her up. They also managed to get a Yankee's game in and do some shopping. It sounds like I need to go to New York :)

No pictures yet, but I am amazed at how different she looks! She's all grown up! I am happy that she's home and look forward to spending some time with her while the rest of the fam is off at the Utah/Michigan game.

The weekend

This weekend we decided to finally go to the Lake to play on the wave runners. We told the kids that's what we were doing, but Zach wasn't going because he was going to play in the pool and on the waterslide at his house. They decided they wanted to do that more than go to the Lake with us. We dropped them off at my dad's house and then Lance and I headed to Jordanelle. Brig, Sheila and Julie met us up there. Just as we were about to get in the water, it started pouring rain. We sat in the cars for about 10 minutes, then it cleared right up. We got out on the Lake and had a great time. The wave runners are extremely fast and the Lake wasn't too crowded due to the earlier rain so it was fun to get them going! I wanted to go on the tube, but a couple hours after being there, a huge grey cloud rolled in. We thought it might be time to get out of the water. Not 2 minutes after we got the wave runners out did it start raining huge rain drops and hailing. We got out just in time! We went to my dad's to pick up the kids and of course they were not ready to come home. So, we decided to have Zach come sleep over at our house. Hannah was still playing on the water slide even though it was getting dark and a little on the chilly side. She would slide down, play in the water a bit, then start shivering. It was hilarious!
