Football

And yet another wonderful football outing! Rick and Stacy had tickets to the game and were tailgating as well so we went and said hi to them before the game. Turns out their tickets are not far from ours so we saw them a few more times as well. It was a perfect day for football and I was so lucky to be spending it with my baby!

Project: Deck

During the spring, summer and fall months, we spend a lot of time on our deck. Our kitchen table does not get used any time other than the winter because we eat outside. We love it. So, we decided since we spend so much time out there, we should have a bigger deck. This was decided about 3 weeks ago and is now complete. It's over double in size and turned out absolutely amazing. Lance, YOU are amazing. Great job!!

On Friday night we had a deck warming party to celebrate it being complete. We had a bunch of friends over and had a great time! I am so glad everyone came, it was a blast (Lori and Dan, can't wait for the cruise!!!). And sorry to the neighbors for all the noise well into the night :)

The rest of the weekend

Other than the whole hospital thing, last weekend was pretty good. All summer Lance and I wanted to go to the drive-in and with only 2 days officially left in summer, we decided to go on Friday. We saw Righteous Kill and Traitor. We didn't stay for the end of Traitor, but both were really good shows. It was a beautiful night too.


Saturday the kids had 2 Lacrosse games. This is Tanner's first season and he's pretty nervous. He didn't play in the first game, but got a goal in the second. I think that will calm his nerves going forward! Teving plays defense and had some really nice hits!



After the games I went to my Dad's to watch the Utah game. It was a fun game, but a little too close for my liking :) Hannah was fun as usual and loved being with Uncle Zacheeee.

Sunday was spent watching NFL Sunday ticket on our new HD receiver. Wow, what a difference! I also made my mom's famous peach pie. It's a yearly tradition and I love fresh peaches. We got a ton this year from some cute neighbors so I made pie after pie and took them to family and the nighbors.

Jax couldn't believe some of the football calls. The raiders decision not to call time out and the Bengals not being able to pull out the win in OT. Sigh...

We gave him his bear and then he was fine though.

On a cold winter day

many years ago, my dad went snowmobiling. Also on this day he rolled his snowmobile as he went over a cliff camouflaged in snow. His legs ripped the handle bars off the snowmobile and sent him flying. He wasn't conscious so he got to ride off the mountain in that fun thing we call Life Flight. After receiving the fateful call, his lovely 16 year old daughter got to go in the trauma room as soon as he arrived at the hospital. BIG MISTAKE. I don't think I have ever witnessed anything worse than my dad lying there all torn up, swollen, bloody and completely out of it. The white floor tiles began spinning, and just in time the kind nurse came to my side so I didn't fall to the floor. She escorted me out and said I could see him later. Good plan. My dad had a rough road to recovery, but after some surgeries and a few months, he was doing much better.

Well this past weekend was a much milder event, but I am confident I am not cut out to be in the medical field. We were all watching the Utah game and his hand got completely bent forward to the inside of his wrist (long story). He fell to the ground in excruciating pain, then a few minutes later we stood him up to put some ice on it. Bad idea. Not a minute later he completely passed out. I was completely freaked out to put it lightly. His eyes rolled back in his head and he was a goner. We tried talking to him and moving him a little, but nothing. I didn’t know if we needed an ambulance and it was the scariest few minutes I have experienced since that fateful snowmobiling day. Now for you smart people, you know this is fairly natural given the pain, the body goes into shock. In the moment John described it as his brain shutting down. I know this isn't exactly what he meant, and it just freaked me out even more as he was lying there. As soon as he started to come to a bit, I was free to take my shaking self upstairs to puke :) We then took him to the hospital for some pain pills, x-rays and eventually a cast. Glad you're feeling a little better dad...don't EVER do anything like that again (as if you had a choice) :)

Sorry...

New England fans, but really I am not at all. I am sorry that Tom Brady is out for the season, that sucks. But, one person cannot carry your team. I think all my bad feelings for the Patriots come from working at Fidelity and the non stop talk about the freaking Red Sox and Patriots. It just got way too old for me. So for now, I will revel in the Dolphins win! How bout that Ronnie Brown?! And if you actually played him in your fantasy league, extreme kudos to you. You are a portion of a small 16%. And one more thing, did you notice some of those direct snap plays and Ronnie Brown actually throwing the ball (and throwing it extremely well!)? They got that right from the Utes...it just works for the Dolphins a little more :)

Volleyball

Volleyball started a couple of weeks ago and I am loving it! We have somewhat of a different team this season than we have in the past and it's really fun. Our guys are Lance, Clark and Jason who I have never played with (only against) and the girls are the same, me, Cam and Andrea. Even when we don't win, we have a lot of fun playing. I love it when it's Volleyball season again :)

Oktoberfest

So last weekend we were at my dad's watching the Utah game when Sheila, Lance and I got to talking about Oktoberfest. Kenzie was in the room and saying it was dumb that it took place in August and September, but was called Oktoberfest. She thought it should be called Septemberfest. I told her it was called that not because of when it was, but rather because it was something that was established in Germany. Before I could finish Lance said "yeah, and it's already October in Germany." She looked very confused, yet astonished and then said shaking her head, "whoa, that's weird". It was absolutely hilarious because kids are just so cute and just don't know any better. However, we figured we better not let her go to school and tell kids that Germany was a month ahead of us so we told her the truth...boy was she mad :)

Classic

So I was shopping at Sunflower Market yesterday (which I absolutely love and recommend) I walked by this lady picking out Mangos. I went about picking out my produce, then looked over a few minutes later as she was still picking out Mangos. But what I noticed this time was her husbands face. Each time she would pick one up, then set it down, he would roll his eyes. Then he would look around in complete boredom, then he began whistling! I almost started laughing at the look on his face, it was classic! And the reason I found this so amusing is because that is sooooo me!! Hence the reason only I was at Sunflower Market. I take FOREVER to pick things out. It doesn't matter what it is, apples, grapes, eggs, flowers, bananas, meat...the list goes on and on. Now I know exactly what Lance's face looks like as I spend 10 minutes at Great Harvest picking out the perfect loaf of bread. And, the best part about this story is that 3 days prior to this, I was the lady picking out the perfect Mangos at Sunflower, albeit by myself :)

Utah Football

Does it really get any better than the start of Utah football?! I LOVE it!! I forget how much I love the games until it starts getting close and I go to that first game. So, yesterday was the day. It started around 3 with tailgating. Joe had everything going as he usually does and was cooking philly cheese stakes when we got there. We went to the bookstore for some new gear, threw the football, ate some great food, chatted with all our fellow Ute friends and had a wonderful pre-game event. The game started out quite slow for the Utes and I was a bit disappointed. However, they didn't dissapoint in the 2nd half! It was such a fun game although I felt like I was cheering by myself for a lot of it as Lance was out with the boys for a lot of it and missed 2 of the most awesome touchdowns. It sucked, but it didn't hinder me from cheering just as loud :) GO UTES!!!

And did I mention fireworks after the game and our seats were perfect for them?! LOVE IT!

San Fran

A few months ago I got a new client on my already very full plate. I was told it was a good personality match, but I was so busy as it was! However, when I found out where this client was, I was actually quite excited. Their main office is in Fremont California. Rick lives about 20 minutes from Fremont! So, I had a client visit this week and Lance decided to come with me a little early to spend some time with Rick. We went into San Francisco when we got there and had lunch with Rick and Ray at a very cool restaurant right on the water. Then we went down to Rick's boat on Pier 39. It was a bit windy which meant the boat was swaying back and forth which meant, of course, I started feeling sick. So, we didn't stay there too long. We walked around a little outdoor market on the pier for awhile, then we thought we were leaving to go into Fremont, but Ray had a friend coming to meet up with us. So, we went to the same restaurant we went to last time we were in San Fran with Rick. It is also right on the water. We watched the sun go down, then drove into downtown San Fran. We went to two more places Rick said we had to visit. Let's just say one of the places did not have doors on the women's bathroom stalls and that was just a little too much for me!! It was a really fun visit with Rick and Ray and the client visit went quite well too :)

I also have to put in a good word for the W Hotel in Silicon Valley. It was awesome! They were all very nice and they have a decked out Acura you can just take if you need to go somewhere. The room was quite posh and decorated in purples and gold. I wanted to take the soft purple couch home! They also have a fridge, microwave, dvd player and ipod speakers in the rooms. Very luxurious. The pool and the outdoor fireplace were fabulous as well.

I had to post this picture since Rick somehow caught Lance and I both with our tounges out quite unintentionaly. Not real flattering, but I had to give him props!The pool at the hotel. Since it was the W hotel, all of their saying had something around a W.The fire just said "HOT". I don't know if they just couldn't think of anything with a W or if it was a warning :)The lounges in the sand by the pool and fireplace. It was a very cool set up!

The Girls

The fam, besides us, went to Michigan for the Utah game last weekend. And since we weren't invited...I mean going...we had Hannah and Kenzie Wednesday through Sunday. I had to pick Kenz up from school and take her which was kind of a pain, but Hannah liked the drive with her so it wasn't too bad.

Hannah absolutely loves Lance and every morning when I would get her out of her crib, she would say "where's Lance?", put her arms up and turn her hands over like she didn't know. Then when we would find Lance she would run to him and say in a deep voice "knuckles" then give him knuckles. She still loves knuckles! She is talking all the time and will say anything you say. We were driving home from day care and I asked her if she wanted to count. She said "yeah" so I said "one" she said "two...seven... nine, ten, yeah (while clapping)" then said "cookie?". It was hilarious! How could I not give her a cookie when we got home?! She can count to 10, but her favorite numbers are seven and nine so she skips to those pretty quick.

When we get home she always says the exact things to Jax that I do. I'll walk in and say hi buddy since he's waiting at the door for us and she'll say "hi buddy" in the exact same tone. Now Jax HATES Hannah so I often tell him to stop or be nice and directly after so does Hannah. She is at a very fun age!

One of my favorite things she says is "Go Utes", but she can't say the "G" very well so it's more like "Ohh Utes!" And, you ask her what an excavator does and she says "scoop and dump" and does the actions. One morning she was laying in bed with me and in a quiet little voice I hear "scoo an dum, scoo an dum, scoo and dum." It took me a minute to realize what she was saying. Apparently that is one of her favorite things to say too! I got a video of these two things, but she got too distracted by the fact she could see herself on my phone at the end.
